Getting back to an old specialty
Here is something most of you do not know about me - back in the early days of my business (15+ years ago!) I was mainly a studio portrait photographer, and was pretty good at it - I gave workshops and private mentoring; and provided professional image critiques. I gave up studio portraits for about 10 years to focus on my natural light outdoor senior portrait work; but here I am, getting back into it after all these years!
Modern studio portraits are taking the senior portrait world by storm in 2024
Studio portraits have long been a staple of senior portraits - even my Grandma Mil, who graduated from Westphalia High School in the 1930s, had a studio senior portraits. But like anything, the popularity comes and goes; and the style changes over time. They had been a bit less popular in the last 5-10 years, really popular again, in many different styles, from traditional to modern. Mine are simple and modern - I hope you love them as much as I do. From what I have heard from many of my kids (which is what I call my seniors, they love them, too!)
You can read about my new home studio in my previous blog post featuring Taylor. I'm super excited about being able to add this option for all of my seniors without an added charge for renting the downtown Kansas City studio. Of course the downtown space also has its benefits ,including large windows for natural light portraits, and a bunch of backdrop colors (which I don't yet have at my home studio which is all white, black and gray).
Olivia
Here you can see a few examples of my studio work of truly beautiful Olivia - some done at my new home studio and some downtown at the hourly rental studio. I can't wait to see who all chooses studio portraits for part of their senior photoshoot this year!
