When I shoot for myself, I really love to do something that looks like vintage film - that's what I grew up with! And there is so much nostalgia in that for me.
Now, I realize that a modern mirrorless camera, and computer editing will never truly, exactly, copy that amazing look of actual film pictures from the 1970s (or any film era) but I take it as a challenge to do what I can, but also keep it within my own personal photographic style. I have to much fun with this!
Every year I have a "Lori's Favorite outfits of the year" countdown, and for coming in #2 in my countdown, the gorgeous Shayla won a 70s photoshoot with me. I bought the skates, the terry cloth romper, socks, and accessories, and one day we went to this fantastic skate park in town. There were lots of young guys and a few middle aged ones on skate boards using the park, but when they saw Shayla walk up, looking like this, they were happy to pause a few minutes to watch us (or, really, her!) do our photoshoot. She really got into this, and looks incredible!
These are a few of my favorite images from the shoot. I will always, always love these.
