Featuring: Mackinley of Mill Valley High School in Shawnee, Kansas. This was Mackinley's second senior portrait session with me; her Platinum session took place last summer, and her clothing choices then were also outstanding.
Outfits: All of them! This girl and her mom put a lot of thought into what she would wear for her senior shoot, and it shows. From a light blue, silky slip dress to a showstopper body con dress with heavy side ruching, to an elegant black jumpsuit to the perfect boho combination- each one hit a high mark, and Mackinley looks stunning in each of them. If you need style inspiration, this is a great place to start.
Why I love them: Clothing choices can make or break a senior session. Yes, the focus is on you, and it should be! But what you are wearing can really set a mood and the choices can tell a lot about who you are at the moment. Putting extra thought into what you will wear will pay off tremendously.
Locations: I photographed Mackinley downtown, where parking can be dicey, but I have been feeling an urge to do more senior photoshoots there. I also have recently been interested in a more neutral, simple look for my my city location portraits, and this session with Mackinley was a great opportunity for me to work in some new-to-me spots. I loved these locations so much and will be working these, and others like them, into my Class of 2023 shoots.
Another thing to take note of? There was no sunshine for this entire shoot yet look how beautiful they are. I know a lot of my girls worry about not having sun, and so I hope these portraits of Mackinley reassure you.
